Dr Laura in partnership with Composition Shop presents…

This book club is about exploring the wildness of our inner life. Each month we will discuss a different book about mindset, wellness, mind/body, spirituality or personal growth. It’s free! You just need to RSVP to secure your spot. We will meet every first Weds.

This month’s selection: Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman

If you’re tired of productivity hacks that just leave you feeling more overwhelmed, Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman is the reality check we all desperately need. Assuming we live to be 80, we only get about 4,000 weeks on this planet. It’s a brutally small number, but Burkeman doesn't use it to induce a panic attack. Instead, he delivers a hilarious, liberating, and deeply philosophical guide to giving up the impossible dream of "doing it all." He argues that modern time management is a trap; the more efficient we get, the busier we become, and the more we miss out on actual life.

This isn't a book about how to crush your goals—it’s a book about how to choose what to fail at so you can focus on what actually matters. It’s packed with provocative takes on why work-life balance is a myth, why hobbies should be done badly, and how embracing our limitations is the ultimate superpower. It is short, sharp, highly relatable, and guarantees to get us thinking about how we’re spending our own finite weeks.
